Old Russian Cars

About

I’m building a database of old russian cars. If you have some info that you don’t yet see here or you have pictures of cars that are here please send them to timo.kannisto@gmail.com. In exchange I’ll add your name and/or link to your page.

  1. Hi Timo,

You can send me your link to exchange as text or a small banner (not bigger than 80x15). Thanx for adding my link on your site.

    Regards,
    Googy.

  3. May I ask a question? Can you tell me the full name of YaAZ ? Presumably the Z stands for zavod i.e.factory or plant

  4. It comes from Yaroslavl Avto Zavod I think where Yaroslavl is the location, Avto is of cours car and Zavod as you said means factory. I think I should add here short descriptions of car factories as well :)

  8. I seem to remember that there used to be a russian car that was powered by coal. Do you have any info on that car?

  9. Hi. There are some trucks that were powered by firewood. Firewood was burned in specia chamber and unburned gas was extracted and directed to the engine. The engine itself was very similar if not exactly the same as for normal gasoline. These kind of trucks were used mostly in very remote areas where was plenty of wood available but other fuels were not. One truck is ZIS-21 for example.
