VAZ-2101 details

Pro­duced 1970 — 1984. It was built based on Fiat 124 but had a dif­fer­ent range of engines. Export name of this car was Lada 1200/1300, also known as Riva. It was exported to Canada, eastern-Europe and Finland.

There are sev­eral mod­i­fi­ca­tions. These are:
VAZ-2101   - base model with 1,2L engine. Exported as Lada 1200.

VAZ-21011 (1974–1981) — it has more pow­er­ful 1,3L engine and has some minor mod­i­fi­ca­tions. For exam­ple updated front grill, 4 more ven­it­la­tion holes etc. Exported as Lada 1300.
VAZ-2102 -
VAZ-21013 (1977–1983) — has same 1,2L engine but is known as Lada 1200S
VAZ-21016 — car for mili­tia, it has more pow­er­ful 1,5L engine.

Design­ing of this truck started in the begin­ning of 1960s. It was designed to be heavy load car­rier and con­struc­tion vehi­cle in remote areas. It was also used as tank and heavy artillery car­rier. It was pub­licly first dur­ing parade in Moscow 1964. It has power steer­ing in first two pair of wheels, cab heater, engine pre-heater and cen­tral tyre pres­sure reg­u­la­tion system.

Pro­duced 1938–1946. Because of con­di­tion of roads or lack of roads in some areas rus­sians needed a way to trans­port goods. They com­bined GAZ-AA with Citroen-Kegress half­tracks and named it GAZ-60. How­ever real­i­bil­ity of this truck was bad and the engine was underpowered.
