Produced 1932 -- 1938. Wheels 4x2. Its based on Ford AA truck. It was made as lightweight as possible. There are many modifications of GAZ AA like firetruck, prisontruck, ambulance etc. Alltogether over 1 million units were built.
During the WW2 simplified version was built to save materials. For example it only had one headlamp and its roof was made of canvas.
Produced 1970 -- 1984. It was built based on Fiat 124 but had a different range of engines. Export name of this car was Lada 1200/1300, also known as Riva. It was exported to Canada, eastern-Europe and Finland.
There are several modifications. These are:
VAZ-2101 - base model with 1,2L engine. Exported as Lada 1200.
VAZ-21011 (1974-1981) -- it has more powerful 1,3L engine and has some minor modifications. For example updated front grill, 4 more venitlation holes etc. Exported as Lada 1300.

VAZ-21013 (1977-1983) -- has same 1,2L engine but is known as Lada 1200S
VAZ-21016 -- car for militia, it has more powerful 1,5L engine.

Designing of this truck started in the beginning of 1960s. It was designed to be heavy load carrier and construction vehicle in remote areas. It was also used as tank and heavy artillery carrier. It was publicly first during parade in Moscow 1964. It has power steering in first two pair of wheels, cab heater, engine pre-heater and central tyre pressure regulation system.
