Pro­duced 1968–85. Dur­ing that time it went through sev­eral updates. First pro­to­types were built already in 1966. GAZ-24 “Volga” is one of the most famous Soviet cars. It was exported to many coun­tries and had many mod­i­fi­ca­tions. I’ll cre­ate posts about dif­fer­ent gen­er­a­tions sep­a­rate­lyl soon.

Pro­duced 1976–1986. Moskvich 2140 is basi­cally an updated ver­sion of Moskvich 412. In west­ern coun­tries it was known as Moskvich 1500.

Pro­duced 1967–1975. This is not the suc­ces­sor of Moskvich 408 but rather the upmar­ket ver­sion of it. Since the name of the fac­tory changed dur­ing pro­duc­tion Moskvich 412 can be named as MZMA-412, AZLK-412 or IZH-412. In 1969 Moskvich 412 received a face lift and among other changes it received square headlamps.

Nami-107

Pro­duced in 1968. Also called Nami-107 “Vasilek” (which means corn­flower in Rus­sia) This is the first front wheel drive car in Rus­sia. The engine ihas 45 hp and placed in front in trans­verse posi­tion. How­ever it remained an experimet­nal model and never went into mass production.
