Produced 1959-1981. Total 3179 units were produced. Its a step down from ZIL limousine. Its styling was copied from 1955-56 American Packard. It wasn’t available for regular people — only for government. It was used by party officials, academics, vips, KGB etc.  Nikita Khruchev prefered this Chaika over the one step up ZIL limousine.

In 1961-1962 GAZ-M13B – a convertible version was built (mainly for parade use)

In 1960s a few station wagon versions were built. Model name for them is GAZ-M13A. Many of them were used as ambulance or funeral cars.
