Pro­duced 1984–2006. Its third gen­er­a­tion of VAZ cars, also known as Lada Samara and Sput­nik. Its looks seem to be inspired mostly from Wolk­swa­gen Golf II. Its firs VAZ that has front wheel drive and its much more eco­nom­i­cal than older VAZ cars. Also inte­rior was much more modern.

Mod­i­fi­ca­tions of VAZ-2108:
VAZ-21081 (1984–1996) — has smaller 1,1L engine.  Known as Lada Samara 1100
VAZ-21083 (1984–2001) — has 1,5L engine. Known as Lada Samara 1500
VAZ-21086 (1990–1996) — UK ver­sion with 1,3L base engine. Known as Lada Samara 1300.
VAZ-21087 (1990–1996) — UK ver­sion with 1,1L engine. Known as Lada Samara 1100
VAZ-21088 (1990–1996) — UK ver­sion with 1,5L engine. Known as Lada Samara 1500.
